We’re back with plenty of activities to keep you occupied over the weekend. If you love shopping but dread the weekend crowds at malls, we’ve got just the recommendations for you. Head to Palawan beach for the Sentosa Festive Market or to the MINT Museum to shop for vintage Chanel and Hermes bags – either way, you’ll be getting two unconventional shopping experiences. Feeling peckish after all the shopping? We’re already salivating thinking about the food options available this weekend. Slurp on fresh oysters at Greenwood Fish Market’s World Oyster Festival, indulge in delectable desserts at Takashimaya’s Sweet Treats Fair, or spend a posh afternoon enjoying a champagne afternoon tea at Lady M. If you prefer activities that are more relaxed, find a quiet spot to enjoy the NDP fireworks on Sunday, or catch the Cat Welfare Society fundraiser screening of Finding Calico at Projector X Picturehouse.

In Japan, when you think of azuki bar, the brand Imuraya immediately comes to mind – this naturally sweet ice cream bar that comes chock full with azuki beans is an easy favourite. As one of the most popular ice cream brands in Japan, Imuraya has been around since 1897 and has sold around 300 million azuki bars per year since 2021.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, they’ll be giving away one-for-one boxes of azuki bars from now to July 2. You can find this famous Japanese ice cream bar at stores like Isetan Scotts, selected Hao Mart outlets, Iroha Mart, and Poppin at Plaza Singapura. These stores will also be giving away a free azuki bar on June 28 and July 1*, a sweet treat on any hot day.

If you’ve yet to be offered a coveted Hermes Kelly or Birkin by your store assistant or you’re finding it difficult to keep up with Chanel’s repeated price increases over the past few years, it might be a good idea to go the vintage route. At the new Guerilla pop-up at the MINT Museum, presented in collaboration with My Grandfather's Things, a selection of 60 rare vintage Hermes and Chanel bags from the 1980s to the 2000s will be showcased. The bags start from $2,500, which is reasonable considering that these bags usually retail in stores for upwards of $10,000. In addition to being able to cop designer bags for less, you might also stumble on colourways, sizes, materials, and bag designs that have been discontinued or are more difficult to find today, such as box-leather Kellys and the Chanel Diana.

Catch Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Lebron James (as sculptures, that is) at Funan Mall until July 16. Edgar Plans, the brains behind the artworks on display, is a Spanish artist known for his vibrant and whimsical graffiti, sculptures, and collectible toys. Expect walls lined with NBA-inspired graffiti artwork and sculptures of the players in Plans’ signature style – disproportionately large heads, huge eyes, and mouse ears. Love what you’ve seen? This June, the Temasek Shophouse (TSH) celebrates its fourth anniversary with an exciting lineup of events.

If you’re wondering what TSH even is, that’s the charming Wes Anderson-esque building near Dhoby Ghaut station along the road of downtown Orchard. The iconic structure is home to the Temasek Trust, Temasek Foundation, and Stewardship Asia Centre.

Recognised as Singapore's hub for social impact, the TSH serves as a collaborative space where communities unite to forge a more sustainable and improved world. Thus far, TSH has already orchestrated 200 events, connecting individuals and organisations that share a common goal –  making our society a more sustainable place to live in.

From June 23 to July 2, shop from several environmentally friendly vendors at the Temasek Shophouse Bazaar, attend a workshop that teaches you how to be in touch with your feelings through art, and if you’re just looking to chill out, then immerse yourself in an hour of live performance by artists.

That’s not all – for film enthusiasts, don’t miss out on an exhibition showcasing prints created from rare movie memorabilia from the archives of a Singapore film collector housed in a replica of a traditional film studio. And for the botanophiles, head to the Temasek Shophouse’s vertical green wall to witness Keng Lye’s grand display of beautiful resin artworks of bonsai and insects.
