Cherry blossom season will land in Sydney during winter, and with it, Auburn's beloved Cherry Blossom Festival, one of Sydney's most Instagrammable events. Running from August 19 to 27 in the Auburn Botanical Gardens, this fragrant festival is all about celebrating Japanese traditions, music, pop culture and food, with visitors able to wander through fields of fluffy pink sakura blossoms in a traditional Japanese garden.
The program will be brimming with activities, performances and workshops, as well as Japanese-style food, including traditional yakatori, omurice, onigiri and karaage chicken.
We're still hanging out to find out details about this year's program, but last year you could play putt-putt golf with live DJs and a Sakura mocktail bar. There was also a Flower Rave (a massive garden dance party that kicked off every morning), a Hello Kitty Garden Party, Japanese taiko drumming shows, and ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) talks.
Tickets will be available to book from July, but at the moment you can register to stay up to date with all the deets, here.
Last year, tickets were free for all Cumberland residents, kids aged 16 and under, senior card holders, and companion card holders, while everyone else paid $10 to enter.
